Coach Kapua is dedicated to creating a fun, competitive, and positive learning environment that promotes both individual and team growth. Her training approach fosters cohesion, confidence, and decision-making, ensuring all players feel supported and empowered. She strongly believes that sports provide valuable life lessons that extend far beyond the game.

Hi, my name is Rachel Fleming. From a young age I developed a deep love for the game. That passion naturally evolved into a desire to coach, and since 2018, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to guide and mentor young athletes. As a former player, I understand the challenges and triumphs that come with the sport, and I bring that experience to my coaching. My goal is to help my players not only improve their technical abilities and strategic understanding but also grow as individuals. Seeing them succeed on and off the field is the most rewarding part of my job. I am constantly learning and adapting, attending workshops and obtaining certifications to stay updated with the latest coaching techniques.

Coach Melanie played soccer starting at the age of 4, played travel soccer from age 10 through high school, was a Varsity Athlete, played Division II College Soccer at Shepherd University. Coaching for 14 years, 9 years as a JV and Varsity high school coach at Centreville High School, 4 years of recreation/all-star/rising travel with SYA, and now 1 year at Burke Athletic Club. As an experienced and dedicated soccer coach I am looking to help players learn, develop, and unlock their potential to maximize their own performance. Build relationships within the

Anu Uprety is a National D license coach who has more than 5 years of coaching experience with Alexandria Travel Soccer and Lee Mount Vernon Soccer Club. He has experience coaching both genders from ages 7 through 14. He played travel soccer at the highest levels in the DMV area growing up and still finds soccer to be his biggest passion. He hopes to share his passion with the youth, to help them excel in life through soccer.

Coach Osmin Martinez has over 15 years of experience coaching teams through early stages of learning soccer principles, progressing to position fundamentals, and aligning these principles to maximize each player’s contribution within a team and to the outcome of the game. He holds a US Soccer Federation “C” coaching license and a US Soccer Federation Grassroots Referee license. When not on a soccer field, he works as a Cyber Security Professional and spends time with his wife, two daughters, and their dog, Luna.

With over 10 years of coaching experience, Coach Brian Lopez is dedicated to developing players both on and off the field. As a USSF C License holder, he brings a strong foundation of technical knowledge, tactical understanding, and player-centered training methods to every session.

Starting in the Fall 2026 season, Coach Brian Lopez will lead the U-11 Fire Red and U-11 Fire Blue teams. In this role, he will focus on building confident, disciplined, and creative players within a competitive yet supportive environment.

Coach Matt got his start in coaching at 16, and is excited to join the ranks of BAC’s travel coaches this year with BAC Celtic Red (2013B). Matt has been active in BAC’s rec soccer program since 2020 filling head coaching roles, age group coordinator roles and most recently being hired on as the Rec Soccer Director of Coaching in 2024. As a player, he was captain of his high school team in Napa, CA, and was a 3 year starter in college at the United States Coast Guard Academy (NCAA Division III). His main goal is for his players to love playing the game, but also to grow up to be good teammates and good people.

My name is Alexei Ortiz and I am the current coach of the U14 travel program at BAC (two teams: Celtic Blue and Celtic White). I was born and raised in Northern Virginia, and I have played soccer my entire life, with my highest level being semi-professional. I have privately trained clients ranging from three years old to adults, which led me into coaching on the recreational side at BAC before becoming a travel coach in winter of 2023. Since taking the helm for both teams, they have won over 6 championships in such a quick span. I have since obtained all of my grassroots licenses and am in the process of obtaining my Virginia Youth Soccer D license. I am certified in first aid and CPR as well. Since joining BAC, I have learned that I have a deep passion for coaching, and I look forward to continuing this journey.
